Basketball Game Preview: Mica Mountain Thunderbolts vs. Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks

The Mica Mountain Thunderbolts and the Ironwood Ridge Nighthawks will face off at 7:00 p.m. on Friday without much rest having both just played. Ironwood Ridge took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mica Mountain, who comes in off a win.

Having struggled with three defeats in a row, Mica Mountain turned things around against Walden Grove on Thursday. They took down the Red Wolves 91-76.

Meanwhile, Ironwood Ridge was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They lost 73-49 to Sahuaro. While losing is never fun, the Nighthawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while the Cougars are ranked 18th).

Mica Mountain's victory bumped their record up to 13-10. As for Ironwood Ridge, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-13.

Mica Mountain beat Ironwood Ridge 73-60 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Ironwood Ridge's Carter Brown, who posted 27 points and seven boards. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Mica Mountain still be able to contain Brown? There's only one way to find out.
