With a playoff win on the line, Lovington rose to the challenge on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 28-14 victory over the Goddard Rockets. Winning may never get old, but the Wildcats sure are getting used to it with their fifth in a row.

Jayden Gutierrez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 113 yards and one TD on only 12 carries, while also throwing for 66 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only five passes. His passing game has become a key predictor of Lovington's success: the team is 5-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise.

Lovington's record is now 7-4. As for Goddard, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Lovington will square off against Artesia at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Goddard does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
