Basketball Recap: American's Run of Nine Straight Wins Now Over

It was a good run, but American unfortunately witnessed the end of their nine-game winning streak on Tuesday. They lost to the James Logan Colts on the road by a 57-43 margin. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Eagles came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while the Colts are ranked 331st).

Shirina Shi and Tiffany Leung certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Shi posted 20 points and six rebounds, while Leung put up nine points. Shi's evening made it five games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

James Logan found their leader in freshman Tyliyah Miller, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Miller has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Mauriah Mchenry, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 16 points and four steals.

American's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 11-2. As for James Logan, they moved to 7-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.

American didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 68-55 victory against Mission San Jose on the 9th. As for James Logan, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 41-37 win against Irvington on the 9th.
