Football Recap: Ely/Northeast Range/Vermillion Country Takes a Loss

Ely/Northeast Range/Vermillion Country was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They were outmatched by the International Falls Broncos and fell 59-8. If Ely/Northeast Range/Vermillion Country was looking for revenge after losing 54-0 to International Falls when the teams met back in August of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Hayden Swenson was a one-man wrecking crew For International Falls. as he threw for 274 yards and six TDs while completing 90.9% of his passes. Those six passing touchdowns gave Swenson a new career-high. International Falls also got a significant boost from Carson Crandall, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 99 yards.

Ely/Northeast Range/Vermillion Country's defeat dropped their record down to 0-2. As for International Falls, the win got them back to even at 1-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ely/Northeast Range/Vermillion Country will take on Mountain Iron-Buhl at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for International Falls, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Rush City at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
