Softball Recap: Tift County Snags Tenth Victory in Last 11 Games

Tift County hadn't done well against Colquitt County recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Blue Devils came out on top against the Packers by a score of 5-2. For the Blue Devils, this counts as revenge for the 12-1 win the Packers walked away with the last time they faced one another back in October of 2024.

Lily Robinson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

In other batting news, Ella Bruce was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Morgan Brey was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs.

Tift County is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.7 runs on average over those games. As for Colquitt County, the defeat snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-13 record.

Tift County will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Packers: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
