Basketball Game Preview: San Marin Mustangs vs. Vallejo Redhawks

The San Marin Mustangs just played yesterday, but they'll still head out to face the Vallejo Redhawks at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Vallejo is hoping to do what Rodriguez couldn't on Friday: put an end to San Marin's winning streak, which now stands at five games. San Marin blew past Rodriguez 46-24. San Marin has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 22 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Vallejo). They took their matchup on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 76-3 victory over De Anza. With the Redhawks ahead 37-0 at the half, the contest was all but over already.

San Marin better focus on containing Zurrie Washington and Veekie Head as the pair were huge in Vallejo's win. Washington dropped a triple-double on 20 points, ten boards, and ten steals, while Head went 10 of 13 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Washington a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angeline Harris, who posted nine points and four steals.

San Marin's win bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Vallejo, their victory bumped their record up to 3-7.

San Marin strolled past Vallejo in their previous matchup back in January by a score of 54-40. Will San Marin repeat their success, or does Vallejo have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
