Softball Recap: Shaw Drops Season-High Score on Hardaway

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Shaw). Everything went their way against the Hardaway Hawks on Thursday as they made off with an 18-0 victory. With that win, the Raiders brought their scoring average up to 6.7 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Kaiden McBurnett, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and one triple. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Michayla Bledsoe was another key player, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and three runs.

Shaw always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hardaway only posted an OBP of .364.

The victory made it two in a row for Shaw and bumps their season record up to 2-5. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 0 runs in those games. As for Hardaway, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shaw will take on Manchester at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders are facing the Blue Devils at the right time seeing as the Blue Devils are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Hardaway, they will host Westover at 5:30 p.m. on Monday.
