Soccer Game Preview: Metter vs. Atkinson County

The Metter Tigers will head out on the road to challenge the Atkinson County Rebels at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Metter sitting on 13 straight victories and Atkinson County on 12.

Metter is coming into the match fresh off a high-scoring shootout with Claxton that saw the pair combine for 33 shots on goal. Metter never let Claxton get on the board and left with a 5-0 win on Tuesday. The final result isn't all the surprising considering Metter's considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia soccer rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Claxton is ranked 274th).

Metter hit Claxton with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Anthony Benitez (2), Israel Hernandez, Alex Balladares, and Kilo Alcocer.

Meanwhile, Atkinson County won against Echols County on Friday with three goals and they decided to stick to that goal total again on Tuesday. The Rebels put the hurt on Coffee with a sharp 3-0 victory. Atkinson County's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last seven games.

Atkinson County pushed their record up to 12-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only given up one goal over those six contests. As for Metter, their win bumped their record up to 13-0.
