Preview: Center Cougars vs. Colfax Falcons
Center has been on the road for three straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Colfax Falcons at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.
Center struggled with assists on Friday (the Indians had 15 more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Center had to suffer through a rough 61-25 loss at the hands of the Indians. Center was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-9.
Despite the loss, Center saw an underclassman step up: Reniaya Applin scored seven points along with 13 rebounds. Applin is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down 11 or more in the last four games she's played. Madison Shirley Boudreaux was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, after a string of 15 wins, Colfax's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 38-37 to Marysville. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Colfax has scored all season.
Center dropped their record down to 9-14 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.0 points per game. As for Colfax, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-2.
Center was taken down by the Falcons 67-21 in their previous matchup back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Center was down 47-10.
