Football Recap: Luke Helmle and Beau Kosmalski Pace Great Valley Defense

Great Valley started off well but failed to capitalize on an early lead against Methacton. They fell 30-18 to the Warriors on Friday. The Patriots were not able to make up for their defeat to the Warriors from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

Despite the loss, Great Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Beau Kosmalski rushed for 96 yards and three TDs. Those three rushing touchdowns set a new season-high mark for Kosmalski.

Great Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Luke Helmle and Kosmalski.

This is the second loss in a row for Great Valley and nudges their season record down to 1-3. As for Methacton, the win got them back to even at 2-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Great Valley will venture away from home to challenge Downingtown East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Patriots surely won't give up without a fight. As for Methacton, they will head out on the road to square off against Boyertown at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The contest will give the Warriors their first taste of in-conference action this season.
