Basketball Recap: Athens Wins Going Away Against Williamson

Athens posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They put the hurt on the Williamson Warriors with a sharp 41-15 win. The squad ran away with 31 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.

Despite the loss, Williamson had strong showings from Kenna Thomas, who posted five points along with five rebounds and five blocks, and Olivia Meisner, who earned four points in addition to seven blocks and five boards. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to blocks: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Athens now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Williamson, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 1-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Athens will take on North Penn-Liberty in a holiday battle at at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Williamson and Northeast Bradford will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
