Baseball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Skyline

Skyline waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Manassas Park Cougars with a sharp 12-2 win. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Hawks considering their one-run performance the game before.

Brady Kaufman made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Skyline is undefeated when Kaufman allows one or fewer hits, but 5-13 otherwise. Kaufman was also big at the plate, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cameron Kerns was incredible, going 1-for-2 with six stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Skyline's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 5-12 when he doesn't). Kaiden Brown was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

Skyline was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .471. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Skyline's victory bumped their record up to 8-13. As for Manassas Park, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-18.

As of now, neither Skyline nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
