Baseball Game Preview: Chestatee War Eagles vs. White County Warriors

For the second straight game, Chestatee will face off against White County. Chestatee will be playing in front of their home fans against White County at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Chestatee is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak.

Chestatee came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss on Tuesday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of White County by a score of 7-5 on Thursday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the War Eagles have suffered since February 27th.

For White County's part, Alex Freeman made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Freeman has become a key player for White County: the team is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-10 otherwise. Freeman was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base.

In other pitching news, Grant Gooch tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. He also tossed a walk, which is notable because White County is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 6-10 otherwise.

Back at the plate, Cooper Garrett was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. Brayden Roach also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Chestatee's loss dropped their record down to 5-15. As for White County, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 9-10.
