Baseball Recap: Jenkins County Comes Up Short

Jenkins County came into this matchup off a tough 11-run loss last Friday. This time they kept things ultra-competitive, but unfortunately the final result was the same. They fell just short of the David Emanuel Academy Eagles by a score of 9-7 on Monday. The War Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Chandler Cates and James Allen were huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. Throwing, Cates pitched 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Allen pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. At bat, Cates scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-3, while Allen scored a run and stole a base. That run was Cates' first of the season.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Joshua Gray, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases and two RBI. Harper Wilcox also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Jenkins County's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for David Emanuel Academy, the victory snapped their losing streak at five games dating back to last season and leaves them with a 1-2 record.

Jenkins County wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 7-2 loss against Screven County on the 4th. As for David Emanuel Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 15-0 defeat against Vidalia Heritage Academy on the 6th.
