The Gross Catholic Cougars will take on the Crete Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Crete will be up against a hot Gross Catholic squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. Everything went the Cougars' way against Mercy on Monday as they made off with a 14-7 win. With that victory, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Alexis Skradski spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up ten Ks.

At the plate, Lauren Kosse was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Brynn Hofmann was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four runs, one stolen base, and one double.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Gross Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.8 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 9.8.
The home team had come away the winner the last six times Crete and Lakeview had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Cardinals never let the Vikings get on the board and left with an 8-0 win on Monday. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Vikings recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
The result came thanks to Madynn Dunham's shutout, as she gave up just a hit and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kacey Dunaway, who went 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Makesha Smith, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Gross Catholic's win bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Crete, their victory bumped their record up to 21-5.
