Soccer Game Preview: Argonaut vs. Union Mine

The Argonaut Mustangs will take on the Union Mine Diamondbacks in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Argonaut is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 3 goals per game this season.

Argonaut's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They blew past Ripon Christian 3-0. The result was nothing new for the Mustangs, who have now won five contests by three goals or more so far this season.

They hit Ripon Christian with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Kailey Carney, Megan Henness, and Bailey Baker.

Meanwhile, Union Mine's undefeated season came to an end after three games on Friday. They came up short against Liberty Ranch, falling 3-0. Having soared to a lofty five goals in the game before, the Diamondbacks' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

The win made it two in a row for Argonaut and bumps their season record up to 8-1-1. As for Union Mine, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

Argonaut came up short against Union Mine when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 2-0. Can Argonaut avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
