Basketball Recap: Oakdale Takes a Loss

Oakdale was the 55-48 winner over Gregori when they last played one another back in December of 2019, but their luck changed this time around. The Oakdale Mustangs lost 50-24 to the Gregori Jaguars on Thursday. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 667th, while the Jaguars are ranked 270th).

Gregori's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Veronica Whitten, who posted 14 points and three blocks. Whitten continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Alanah Lopez was another key player, putting up 12 points and five assists.

This is the second loss in a row for Oakdale and nudges their season record down to 2-3. As for Gregori, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Oakdale wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 39-29 win against Golden Valley on the 6th. As for Gregori, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-35 loss against Whitney on the 6th.
