Basketball Recap: Bethel Christian Comes Up Short

If Bethel Christian was riding high fresh off their 31-6 takedown of Crossroads Christian last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bethel Christian Kings were outmatched by the Packinghouse Christian Academy Bears and fell 57-26. The Kings have struggled against the Bears recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive lost matchup.

Bethel Christian lost on Thursday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Leah Lopez, who posted four points and 14 rebounds. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Another player making a difference was Faith Lantry, who had seven points.

Even though they lost, Bethel Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 14 offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Packinghouse Christian Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Pearl Harry led the charge by dropping a double-double with 22 points and ten rebounds. Ashlyn Thompson also deserves some recognition as she posted her first block of the season.

Bethel Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12. As for Packinghouse Christian Academy, they pushed their record up to 12-5 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home.
