Basketball Recap: Sutter Comes Up Short

Sutter played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 64-30 loss at the hands of the Placer Hillmen. While losing is never fun, the Huskies can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 601st, while the Hillmen are ranked 53rd).

Despite the loss, Sutter still got an impressive performance from Gia Rickertsen, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and ten rebounds. Rickertsen has been hot, having posted ten or more boards the last five times she's played.

Sutter is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-4. As for Placer, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.

Sutter and South Tahoe will round out the year against one another at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday. As for Placer, they will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Del Campo at 7:30 p.m. on January 2, 2026. This will be the Hillmen's first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
