Basketball Recap: Wayne Find Success

The Wayne Blue Devils narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Blair Bears 37-34. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Blue Devils.

Addison Frank was the offensive standout of the contest as she posted six points and four steals. She has become a key player for Wayne: the team is 6-2 when she posts at least three steals, but 5-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Haley Kramer, who put up six points and six rebounds.

Despite the loss, Blair saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Beau Wendt had 13 points and five boards. Kate Wulf was another key player, putting up eight points.

Wayne's win bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Blair, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-4 record.

Wayne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 36-35 loss against North Bend Central on the 27th. As for Blair, they will square off against Elkhorn North at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bears' defense better be ready for this one: the Wolves have averaged an impressive 51.5 points per game this season.
