Football Game Preview: Sotomayor WILDCATS vs. Marshall Rams

The Sotomayor WILDCATS will square off against the Marshall Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Marshall took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Sotomayor, who comes in off a win.

Sotomayor will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any points two weeks ago, then bounced right back against O'Connor on Friday. The WILDCATS breezed past the Panthers to the tune of 45-16. The game was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the WILDCATS had established a 26-point advantage.

Cameron Grady was nothing short of spectacular: he rushed for 291 yards and three TDs while picking up 13.9 yards per carry, and also caught a pair of scores. His longest rush was for an incredible 75 yards. Another player making a difference was Chauncey Moon, who rushed for 95 yards and one touchdown on only ten carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Sotomayor was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 455 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Sotomayor's defense stepped up as well, laying out Wade Carpenter. six times. The heavy lifting was done by Jonah Moore and Seth Hamil, who racked up five sacks between them.

Meanwhile, Marshall was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were outmatched by Warren and fell 62-0.

Sotomayor's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Sotomayor strolled past Marshall in their previous meeting back in September of 2024 by a score of 21-7. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Rams' Jalen Glover, who rushed for 200 yards. Now that he won't be playing on Thursday, will it be easier for the WILDCATS to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
