Soccer Game Preview: Clovis West vs. Clovis East

The Clovis West Golden Eagles will face off against the Clovis East Timberwolves at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Clovis West's defense has only allowed 0.5 goals per game this season, so Clovis East's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Clovis East better have a healthy lead at halftime, because if last week is any indication, that's when Clovis West really get things going. Clovis West's defense stepped up to hand Central a 3-0 shutout on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Golden Eagles, who have now won four matches by three goals or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Clovis East hadn't done well against Clovis North recently (they were 0-8-1 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Clovis East had just enough and edged Clovis North out 2-1. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Timberwolves' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 343rd, while the Broncos are ranked 87th).

Clovis West pushed their record up to 8-1-1 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 28 goals over those six contests. As for Clovis East, they now have a winning record of 4-3-3.
