It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Moreau Catholic had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They walked away with a 34-27 win over the McKinleyville Panthers. Winning may never get old, but the Mariners sure are getting used to it with their 15th in a row.
Moreau Catholic was led to victory by Ava Bowens and Elisa Ortega. Bowens posted nine points along with seven rebounds and three blocks, while Ortega earned 15 points and four steals. That's the most steals Ortega has posted since back in December of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaliya Kirkwood, who scored four points.
Moreau Catholic smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 27 consecutive contests.
