Football Recap: Winona Christian Takes a Loss

After soaring to 42 points the game before, Winona Christian was a bit more limited in their match on Friday. They took a blow against the Leake Academy Rebels, falling 35-7. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Stars, who until this game were averaging 15 points allowed.

George B Wilcox was a one-man wrecking crew For Leake Academy. as he threw for 207 yards and two touchdowns while completing 73.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 33 yards and one TD. Garrett Adcock was another key player, rushing for 76 yards and one score on only eight carries.

Having lost for the first time this season, Winona Christian fell to 3-1. As for Leake Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Looking ahead, Winona Christian will be playing at home against Marshall Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Leake Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Winston Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Rebels will be up against the Patriots' rather soft defense (which has allowed 34.75 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
