Soccer Game Preview: Hilmar vs. Escalon

The Hilmar Yellowjackets will head out to challenge the Escalon Cougars at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Hilmar is headed into Friday's match hungry for a win as their strong season has now been derailed by two straight losses. They were a single goal away from ending the streak, but they lost a 1-0 heartbreaker at the hands of Ripon Christian.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Escalon faced off against Sonora on Wednesday. The Cougars lost 6-0 to the Wildcats. Escalon haven't had much luck with Sonora recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

Hilmar's defeat dropped their record down to 13-7-2. As for Escalon, their loss dropped their record down to 6-11-1.

Hilmar got the 'W' when the teams last played on January 9th against Escalon by a conclusive 8-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Yellowjackets since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
