Softball Recap: Raymond Central Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Nebraska City, Raymond Central was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Arlington Eagles by a score of 11-2 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Mustangs considering their two-run performance the match before.

Emersyn Kalin tossed a big game, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Maja Matulka was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Tess Roubal, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double.

Raymond Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Arlington only posted a batting average of .235.

The win got Raymond Central back to even at 7-7. As for Arlington, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Arlington wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 10-1 victory against Tekamah-Herman on the 11th. Hopefully Raymond Central paid attention to the Eagles' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Eagles at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
