Baseball Game Preview: Sumter County Panthers vs. Kendrick Cherokees

The Sumter County Panthers will challenge the Kendrick Cherokees on Tuesday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Sumter County is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight games on Thursday. They lost 12-0 to Sherwood Christian Academy.

Sumter County saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Wayne Harvey, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, Kendrick scored the most runs they've had this season on Friday, but it wasn't enough. They came up short against Spencer, falling 18-3. The defeat continues a trend for the Cherokees in their meetings with the Greenwave: they've now lost three in a row.

Sumter County's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Kendrick, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-4.

Sumter County got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in March of 2025 against Kendrick by a conclusive 30-16 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Cherokees have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
