Football Game Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Belen Eagles + Official Tickets

The Valley Vikings will face off against the Belen Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Saturday, Valley strolled past Rio Grande with points to spare, taking the game 28-14. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Ravens recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

The critical scores for Valley came from Michael Garcia, Zachary Perez-Verdeja, and Joshua Sanchez.

Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Jude Olguin, Gabriel Gonzales, and Mateo Medina picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, Belen was able to grind out a solid victory over Capital on Thursday, taking the game 22-14.

A big part of Belen's win came down to the chemistry between Gonzalo Cano and his top target Logan Gonzalez. Cano rushed for 142 yards and one score on only 12 carries while Gonzalez gained 112 total yards and a touchdown. What's more, Gonzalez racked up 25 passing yards, the most he's had since back in August.

Belen was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 272 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Valley's record now sits at 4-6. As for Belen, their record is now 6-4.

Valley skirted past Belen 25-22 in their previous meeting back in September. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Cano, who rushed for 206 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 135 yards on eight of 13 attempts. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Vikings still be able to contain Cano? There's only one way to find out.
