Recap: Maricopa Indians vs. Shandon Outlaws

This season hasn't been kind to the Maricopa Indians, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They took a 15-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of Shandon on Tuesday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Maricopa of the 22-9 loss they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Shandon found their leader in underclassman Danna Zamora, who scored eight points.

Maricopa's defeat was their eighth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 14.0 points per game. As for Shandon, their win bumped their record up to 2-5.

Maricopa won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Coast Union at 3:30 p.m. on January 17th. Coast Union comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last six games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse. Shandon will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Valley Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 19th.
