Basketball Game Preview: Dominguez Dons vs. Compton Tarbabes

The Dominguez Dons will take on the Compton Tarbabes in a holiday battle at at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday. Dominguez is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

While Dominguez didn't have the best season last year (they finished 4-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past La Puente 50-19 on Friday. Given the Dons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 340th, while the Warriors are ranked 1111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Dominguez's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but MYA HARRIS led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 24 rebounds. HARRIS is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last five games she's played. DARIYA SNYDER was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten steals.

Meanwhile, Compton played a tough matchup on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 67-22 loss at the hands of Woodrow Wilson. The Tarbabes were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 43-12.

Dominguez's win bumped their record up to 7-0. As for Compton, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Dominguez strolled past Compton in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 39-23. Will Dominguez repeat their success, or does Compton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
