Baseball Recap: Make It Two in a Row for Mckean

McKean hadn't done well against First State Military Academy recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Highlanders never let the Bulldogs get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. This was payback for the Highlanders, who suffered a 22-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Brian Gonzales was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple. McKean is undefeated when Gonzales posts two or more runs, but 3-14 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayden Sanchez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base.

McKean was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as First State Military Academy only posted a batting average of .071.

The victory made it two in a row for McKean and bumps their season record up to 6-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 5 runs in those games. As for First State Military Academy, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. McKean will take on Brandywine at 3:45 p.m. on the 26th. As for First State Military Academy, they will challenge Woodbridge at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
