Basketball Recap: West Shores Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

After losing to Calexico Mission the last time they met, West Shores decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The West Shores Wildcats walked away with a 27-17 win over the Calexico Mission RoadRunners on Tuesday.

Despite the loss, Calexico Mission still got an impressive performance from Carla Mariscal, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten steals. Melissa Ma was another key player, putting up two points in addition to six boards and three steals.

West Shores has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 7-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.8 points over those games. As for Calexico Mission, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

West Shores and Calexico Mission's offenses will be put to the test in their next games. West Shores and Warner (who has only given up 12.74 points per game) will meet at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. West Shores' defense has only allowed 20.8 points per game this season, so Calexico Mission's offense will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Calexico Mission will face off against San Pasqual Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, a team that's only allowed 5.67 points per game.
