Preview: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Lancaster Eagles
Quartz Hill is 1-9 against Lancaster since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Quartz Hill Royals will head out on the road to challenge the Lancaster Eagles at 5:00 p.m. Quartz Hill will be strutting in after a victory while Lancaster will be coming in after a loss.
Last Saturday, Quartz Hill didn't have too much trouble with Victor Valley at home as they won 49-33. The victory was just what Quartz Hill needed coming off of a 56-26 loss in their prior contest.
Quartz Hill's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Ashantee Palmer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and four steals, and Mandy Frozina, who scored 19 points along with seven steals and five assists. Frozina has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alonna Rollins, who scored six points.
Meanwhile, Lancaster ended up a good deal behind Eastside on Tuesday and lost 68-49.
Quartz Hill's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.33 points. As for Lancaster, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 12-7.
Things could have been worse for Quartz Hill, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 56-40 loss to Lancaster in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Lancaster's Brianna SaMarion, who dropped a double-double on 28 points and ten rebounds.
