Lake Station Edison hasn't had much luck against River Forest recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Fighting Eagles are taking a road trip to take on the Ingots at 7:00 p.m. River Forest took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Lake Station Edison, who comes in off a win.
Lake Station Edison will bounce into Friday's game after beating Boone Grove, who they had gone 0-9 against in their nine prior meetings. The Fighting Eagles were the clear victors by a 29-8 margin over the Wolves on Friday. Considering the Fighting Eagles have won four matchups by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Lake Station Edison's success was spearheaded by the efforts of David Parker, who rushed for 152 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Oscar Alderson, who gained 165 total yards and two touchdowns. Parker was no stranger to the big play, taking off on a dash that went for 65 yards.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Lake Station Edison was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 341 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 215 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
Lake Station Edison's defense stepped up as well, laying out Sal Montes three times. Leading the way was Kaden McNeil with two sacks.
Meanwhile, River Forest entered their game against Rensselaer Central on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Ingots were beaten by the Bombers 57-17. The Ingots were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 29-9.
Lake Station Edison pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.0 points on average over those games. As for River Forest, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Lake Station Edison was taken down by River Forest 55-16 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Thankfully for the Fighting Eagles, Ayden Silver (who threw for 217 yards and four TDs while completing 90% of his passes, and also rushed for 89 yards and one score on only six carries) won't be suiting up this time.
