Soccer Game Preview: Colfax vs. Oakmont

The Colfax Falcons will head out on the road to square off against the Oakmont Vikings at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Last Thursday, Colfax got the win against Wheatland by a conclusive 7-1. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Pirates are ranked 960th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Colfax's offense was hitting Wheatland from everywhere, as seven different players booted in a goal.

Meanwhile, Oakmont entered their tilt with Mira Loma on Thursday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Matadors a 4-0 shutout.

Oakmont pushed their record up to 11-3 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only given up zero goals over those five matches. As for Colfax, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-2.

Colfax came out on top in a nail-biter against Oakmont in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 1-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colfax since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
