Baseball Recap: Dougherty Beats Macon County for Their Fifth Straight Victory

Dougherty put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on the Macon County Bulldogs with a sharp 19-1 win. While the Trojans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-10), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Braylen Still made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in February of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. He has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

In other batting news, Joshua Weaver was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Love, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Dougherty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .846. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Dougherty's victory was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0.

Coming up, Dougherty will challenge Baker County at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Dougherty's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Baker County's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Macon County, they will head out on the road to face off against Monroe at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
