If Estancia wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Eunice, they should've done a better job of containing Elijah Melancon. The Cardinals snuck past the Bears with a 40-36 win on Friday for which the team can thank Melancon, who threw for 197 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes, and also rushed for 45 yards and one score. He is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season.

Eunice has started the season off flawlessly and has a 2-0 record to show for it. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 50.0 points this season. As for Estancia, they dropped their record down to 0-2 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season.

Coming up, Eunice will take on New Mexico Military Institute at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Estancia, they will square off against Tularosa at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
