The Brazos Christian Eagles will take on the Covenant Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Brazos Christian has eight straight wins, Covenant Christian has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Brazos Christian's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They blew past St. Paul, posting a 48-0 victory. Considering the Eagles have won seven games by more than 25 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Brazos Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colton Garner, who rushed for 63 yards and a pair of scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Reed Jackson, who rushed for 60 yards and two touchdowns on only seven carries.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Brazos Christian was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 227 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Covenant Christian faced off against Central Texas Christian on Thursday. The Cougars were outmatched by the Lions and fell 49-8. The contest marked the Cougars' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.
Brazos Christian will have to contain Preston VanHouse as he made an impact in Covenant Christian's last game. He rushed for 183 yards and one TD while picking up 8.3 yards per carry. Covenant Christian also got help from Brady McDaniel, who showed off his sure hands for 96 receiving yards.
Brazos Christian's win bumped their record up to 8-0. As for Covenant Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Brazos Christian has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 148.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Covenant Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 229.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Brazos Christian against Covenant Christian when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the squad secured a 55-7 victory. Will the Eagles repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
