Basketball Recap: Western Christian Comes Up Short

Western Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 38-29 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Charter Oak Chargers. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Fighting Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 40-36 last Friday.

When it comes to explaining why Western Christian lost, don't look at Emma Webster. Despite the final result, she posted 11 points.

Even though they lost, Western Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive boards in nine consecutive games.

Western Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 5-9. As for Charter Oak, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.

Western Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-30 victory against Perris on the 21st. As for Charter Oak, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 37-31 loss against Hemet on the 21st.
