Preview: Sequoia Ravens vs. Mountain View Spartans
The Sequoia Ravens have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Mountain View Spartans at 5:45 p.m. on December 21st. Sequoia will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps California Rankings (they are ranked 696th, while Mountain View is ranked 250th).
Last Friday, Sequoia came up short against Independence and fell 39-32.
Meanwhile, Mountain View beat Carlmont 54-42 on Wednesday.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alana Hernandez, who scored 17 points. That makes it four consecutive games in which Hernandez has scored at least 25% of Mountain View's points. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Kim, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds.
Sequoia bumped their record down to 4-4 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.3 points per game. As for Mountain View, their victory bumped their record up to 7-1.
Sequoia came out on top in a nail-biter against Mountain View when the teams last played back in December of 2022, sneaking past 31-28. Does Sequoia have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mountain View turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
