Basketball Recap: Linfield Christian Beats Woodcrest Christian for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Linfield Christian came tearing into Saturday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 56-44 win over the Woodcrest Christian Royals. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 60-55 two weeks ago.

Linfield Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caden Johnson led the charge by putting up 20 points in addition to seven assists and four steals. Johnson is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 20 games she's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Natalie Zaruka, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 12 rebounds.

Linfield Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Linfield Christian's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-12. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for Woodcrest Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season.

Linfield Christian wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-46 win against Aquinas on the 3rd. As for Woodcrest Christian, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 49-34 defeat against Loma Linda Academy on the 4th.
