Recap: Leuzinger Olympians vs. Beaumont Cougars
The Leuzinger Olympians have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 22 points or more this season. They were the clear victor by a 68-45 margin over Beaumont. Given Leuzinger's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while Beaumont is ranked 333rd), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Leuzinger had a senior duo take command as Madison Watts scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four blocks and Leah Sarabia almost dropped a triple-double on 12 points, 13 rebounds, and nine assists. That makes it seven consecutive games in which Watts has scored at least 25% of Leuzinger's points. Dresha Moore was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Leuzinger is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Beaumont, they have fallen quite a ways from their 19-5 record last season and are now at 5-8.
Leuzinger and San Dimas will face off at 3:00 p.m. on December 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Beaumont won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Lake Washington at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th. Lake Washington is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
