Soccer Game Preview: Buena vs. Santa Barbara

The Buena Bulldogs will challenge the Santa Barbara Dons at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Buena is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Buena will roll into the game after a wild two-game stretch: they only put up one goal on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Dos Pueblos on Thursday. Everything went Buena's way against Dos Pueblos as Buena made off with a 5-1 win.

Meanwhile, Santa Barbara has been on a difficult stretch since their win on December 2. They lost 7-0 to Oxnard on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Dons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 569th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 63rd).

Buena's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 14 goals over those four contests. As for Santa Barbara, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-7-3.

Buena took their win against Santa Barbara when the teams last played on January 7th by a conclusive 6-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Buena since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
