Mater Dei, St. John Bosco stay atop rankings ahead of postseason showdown.

Round Two — Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) vs. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, Calif.).
Just as many thought after the No. 1 Monarchs beat the Braves 34-28 in Trinity League play, it wouldn't be the last time the nation's top two teams met.
In the first game, Mater Dei's
Bryce Young was 19-of-33 passing for 256 yards and three touchdowns, all to Epps.
The
Monarchs opened a 24-10 hafltime lead on the Braves before
DJ Uiagalelei
brought his team back, going 17-of-30 passing for 320 yards, two scores
and an interception.
This time it's for a spot in the CIF Open Division title game.
Mater Dei and St. John Bosco have played in the three prevous Southern
Section finals with the Monarchs winning 17-13 in 2018 and 49-24 2017.
The Braves, who beat Mater Dei 42-28 in 2015, have now been to seven
straight Division 1 finals.
Elsewhere, Armwood (Seffner, Fla.), Archbishop Rummel (Metairie, La.), Our Lady of Good Consel (Olney, Md.), DeSmet Jesuit (St. Louis), Male (Louisville, Ky.) and Northwestern (Miami) all entered the Composite Top 25 based on their postseason wins last week.
Only schools recognized by two or more media outlets are eligible for
inclusion in the composite rankings. Teams were assigned a score of 40
for each media outlet that did not recognize them as part of their Top
25, rewarding teams that received consensus acclaim.
