Soccer Game Preview: South Sevier vs. Maeser Prep Academy

The South Sevier Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Maeser Prep Academy Lions at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. South Sevier is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 2.6 goals per game this season.

South Sevier is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against Gunnison Valley as they made off with an 8-1 victory. It was an even better day for Savanah Brady as she scored five goals for her team.

Meanwhile, Maeser Prep Academy hadn't done well against Rowland Hall recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Lions never let the Winged Lions get on the board and left with a 3-0 win. Considering Maeser Prep Academy have won 11 matches by more than two goals this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Maeser Prep Academy's victory was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 12-6. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 72 goals over those nine matchups. As for South Sevier, their victory bumped their record up to 8-11.

South Sevier suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Maeser Prep Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2021. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
