Basketball Recap: Kamdyn Keeler and Kyra Wooden Secure Win for Union Mine

Union Mine hadn't done well against El Dorado recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Union Mine Diamondbacks took down the El Dorado Cougars 54-39. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Diamondbacks also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2024.

Leading Union Mine to victory were Kyra Wooden and Kamdyn Keeler. Wooden almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine rebounds, while Keeler posted 12 points along with six assists and six boards. The dominant performance gave Keeler a new career-high in assists. Sydnee Jones was another key player, putting up no points in addition to 12 boards, four blocks, and three steals.

Union Mine smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 11 consecutive matches.

When it comes to explaining why El Dorado lost, don't look at Lauren Blankenship. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points and eight rebounds.

Union Mine is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for El Dorado, they dropped their record down to 11-10 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Union Mine will welcome Liberty Ranch at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty Ranch will roll in looking for their 17th straight victory, something Union Mine surely won't give up without a fight. As for El Dorado, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 42-33 win against Galt on the 27th.
