Basketball Recap: American Canyon Extends Winning Streak to Three

American Canyon extended their winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jordan Woodson. The American Canyon Wolves narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack 50-47 thanks in part to Woodson, who dropped a double-double on 24 points and ten boards. She is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Another player making a difference was Deja Montgomery, who posted five points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. That's the most steals she has posted since back in February.

Caitlin Subejano and Sophia Mendenhall certainly did their best on Saturday to avoid the loss. Subejano dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten steals, while Mendenhall dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten boards. That was a full 48.9% of Cosumnes Oaks' points, marking the fifth time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

American Canyon has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

American Canyon and Castilleja will round out the year against one another at at 3:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cosumnes Oaks, they will face off against Freedom at 12:00 p.m. on Monday. Freedom will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something Cosumnes Oaks surely won't give up without a fight.
