Dodge County has gone a perfect 8-0 against Dublin recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Indians will be playing in front of their home fans against the Fighting Irish at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Dublin will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Dodge County extended their winning streak to four on Friday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 12-3 margin over Northeast.
Kendall Yawn and Landon Sheffield made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Yawn pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Sheffield pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dodge County is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 9-11 otherwise. At the plate, Yawn scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Sheffield scored two runs while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases Yawn has posted since back in February.

In other batting news, Karson Jones was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3. Dodge County is undefeated when Jones posts two or more runs, but 4-12 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kain Mincey, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Dodge County hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Dublin had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Chargers as they made off with a 16-3 victory.
Will Wallace was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Xavier Reese was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Dodge County pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Dublin, their win bumped their record up to 17-9.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Dodge County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Dublin struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Dodge County took their victory against Dublin when the teams last played back in March of 2020 by a conclusive 15-2 score. Do the Indians have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Fighting Irish turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
