Soccer Game Preview: Portal vs. Metter

The Portal Panthers will challenge the Metter Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

If Portal beats Metter with three goals on Tuesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. Portal came out on top against Montgomery County by a score of 3-1 on Tuesday. That's two games straight that the Panthers have won by exactly two goals.

They hit Montgomery County with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Blake Shipman, Ben Skinner, and Bruno Navarro.

Meanwhile, Metter put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. Their defense stepped up to hand Echols County a 5-0 shutout. That looming 5-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Tigers yet this season.

The victory made it two in a row for Portal and bumps their season record up to a perfect 2-0. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored six goals over those two matches. As for Metter, their win bumped their record up to 4-0.

Portal came up short against Metter in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, falling 3-1. Can Portal avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
