Basketball Recap: Susquenita Comes Up Short

Susquenita lost against Greenwood back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Susquenita Blackhawks were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 46-45 to the Greenwood Wildcats. While losing is never fun, the Blackhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 341st, while the Wildcats are ranked 148th).

Despite the loss, Susquenita still got an impressive performance from Kaydon Brandt, who went 6 for 12 on her way to 14 points in addition to seven boards and five assists. That's the most points Brandt has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ayahna Fleisher, who posted 12 points.

Leading Greenwood to victory were Sylvia Gantt and Bekah Brinser. Gantt went 5 of 11 on her way to 18 points, while Brinser had 14 points. Gantt's evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Susquenita's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Greenwood, their win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-2.

Susquenita will host East Juniata at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Greenwood, they will head out to take on Line Mountain at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
